Esther Wheeler Sweeney Award Scholarship Fund

The Sweeney Award has been given annually at the Honors Convocation since the late 1960’s. It was created by Dr. and Mrs. Wheeler in memory of several members of Dr. Wheeler’s family. Dr. Charles Wheeler ‘24 was chairman of Xavier’s English department for 26 years and was a key person in the formation of Hospital Administration program. The award is presented to a student completeing the English major with highest distinction and is awarded during the annual spring All Honors Day.
