Friends of 938 Dana/Class of 2003 Endowed Scholarship
“Attending Xavier University was a life-changing experience for the FRIENDS OF 938 DANA. The university
provided them with an excellent education, but also much more. Friendships were forged that are still strong decades
after graduation. Beyond that, the university instilled in them a commitment to using their knowledge, skills, and
relationships to build a more just world.
Their intent is to make this kind of transformational college experience more widely available to others who are in
the greatest need. Their hope is that the scholarship will give the recipients time to succeed in their classes, engage
with student organizations and communities beyond campus, and, above all, build the friendships that are surely
amongst the most important things one can take away from college without the financial burden.”
The scholarship is to be awarded to a full-time, undergraduate student, whose EFC (estimated family contribution) is
above Pell Grant eligibility but below $30,000 (can change with market adjustments in the future). First generation
students and/or students of marginalized communities may be given priority. Eligible students also should not have
received the following Xavier awards: Community Engaged Fellowship or St. Francis Xavier Scholarship (or
equivalent full-tuition institutional aid awards in the future). In addition, eligibility can be determined by the Office
of Student Financial Services based on student’s financial need and any student’s special financial circumstances
that arise.
