The Sister Nancy Linenkugel Scholarship for Health Services Administration

Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Philip G. Laufer, a Sandusky, Ohio businessman who worked closely with Sister Nancy Linenkugel from 1986-2001 when she was President and CEO of Providence Hospital in Sandusky, he has funded a scholarship at Xavier University called the “Sister Nancy Linenkugel Scholarship for Health Services Administration”.

This scholarship is awarded to up to three second year MHSA students who are deemed to meet the award criteria. The award amount can vary and is decided at the discretion of the director of MHSA.
ELIGIBILITY: Second year MHSA students can apply for the award following successful completion of an administrative internship prior to starting the second year in MHSA. The award criteria are these:

1. Successful completion of a healthcare administrative internship prior to starting the second year in MHSA;
2. Explanation of 2-3 practical learnings gained from the internship;
3. Identification of at least one example of first year MHSA coursework being put into practice during the internship experience;
4. Sharing your understanding of how health administration is a calling, not just a job;
5. How you experienced executives at the internship site integrate the organization’s mission into daily care and what lessons you would take to do this in your own organization;
6. How the internship has readied you for MHSA second year, administrative residency, and beyond.
