Rev. Joseph J. Peters, S.J., Scholarship

Established by friends and colleagues of Fr. Peters, an emeritus professor biology who also directed Xavier’s pre-med program. Fr. Peters entered the Society of Jesus in 1927 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1940. He joined Xavier’s faculty in 1946 and served 22 years as the chairman of the Biology department. He was elected as the “Teacher of the Year” each year from 1957-1968. Awardees are encouraged to “return the favor” by contributing to the scholarsip fund during their professional careers. Awarded to junior Pre-Med or Pre-Dental students.
