Clara M. Haake Lueke (1884-1969) Family Endowed Scholarship

The Lueke Family Scholarship is for a first generation student with demonstrated financial need. The scholarship should be renewable as long as the student maintains a minimum level GPA of 3.0. Clara was Melissa Lueke’s grandmother. She had nine children. Her life was difficult, losing two children as infants and two as adults. She raised her family through a pandemic, the depression and sent four sons to fight overseas in World War II, all coming home thankfully. Despite these challenges she provided her children with a Catholic education and my father described her as a saint. She was a strong faith-filled woman and I think she would be very proud of her children, and their many descendants, of which quite a number graduated from Xavier University or Edgecliff College.
