Authentic Leader Scholarship

The LGBTQ+ Endowed Scholarship is established by Chuck Knippen and Nate Moster who are both Xavier University alumni. This award will be given annually to a student who identifies on the spectrum as Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender or Queer/Questioning. This scholarship will be application based and given to a student who has demonstrated positive impact in their community. Their impact may be measured/evaluated/supported by community service, board membership, volunteerism, community or club participation etc. Community service or impact, may include, but is not limited to impact within the LGBTQ+ community. Applicants must meet cumulative GPA 3.0 in pursuit of academic excellence. Active participation in campus life. Final selection of the recipient(s) of this scholarship shall be within the sole discretion of financialaid/scholarship selection committee. Each scholarship shall be awarded for one academic year, but the student(s) may receive this scholarship in successive years as long as all selection criteria are met and they meet academic requirements determined by University financial aid policies. A scholarship committee of 3-5 individuals, which may include representatives from the Divsion of Enrollment Management, Center for Diversity and Inclusion and a member of ProudXU, Xavier’s faculty and staff LGBTQ+ affinity group will review applications based on the strength of their essay response to the following question/prompt:
Share what you believe to be your most significant impact whithin your community.
How will you use Xavier’s community as a catalyst to further LGBTQ+ awareness, understanding, or support for this work?
What organizations, clubs, or campus resources would you use to do this?
If selected, describe the financial impact of this award to you.
